Frequently Asked Questions

Why YAN MOTORS, versus any another auto repair franchise?

YAN Motors offers an immense amount of franchise support from our corporate office, as well as a highly respected brand image. We require less investment, a small franchise fee and more control of marketing and advertising associated with your target market.

What service do I need?

The type of service your car needs will largely depend on what was done before. Our technicians will help you decide by looking at your service book for pre seeing what service was done previously. From there, they can provide you with a more definitive answer.

Can you come on weekends?

Yes, we have Saturday appointments.

Can you come to my work or my home?

Yes, we perform repair at office buildings, in parking garages, on parking lots or low traffic streets.

Will it cost the same no matter where I live?

No

How Often Should You Do Brake Service?

The frequency of brake service can depend on various factors including driving habits, driving conditions, and the type of vehicle. However, a general rule of thumb is to have your brakes inspected at least once a year or every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. Of course, if you notice any unusual sounds, reduced brake responsiveness, or any other irregularities in braking performance, it’s important to seek professional brake service immediately.

What if I fail my MOT?

If your vehicle fails its MOT, you will be issued a VT30 form and your vehicle will have a “dangerous” or “major” fault. This means that it is not roadworthy and you are not allowed to drive it until the necessary repairs have been made. You will then need to rebook another MOT test once the repairs have been completed. It is important to address any issues that caused the failure as soon as possible, as driving a vehicle with dangerous or major faults can result in accidents and put yourself and others at risk.

Do I need a full car service every year?

Not necessarily. However, it’s advised for optimal car health. Most manufacturers recommend a yearly car service, especially if your vehicle covers more than 12,000 miles within that year. Annual servicing ensures safety, optimal performance, and can enhance your car’s resale value.

How Long Does Car Diagnostics Take?

Typically, a comprehensive diagnostic test can last anywhere from one hour to 90 minutes. In some cases, additional issues may arise or certain vehicle components may need to be removed prior to conducting the test, which can extend the duration to approximately two to three hours. At the same time, if a problem is detected early on, the diagnostics test may be considerably shorter.

What does a full car diagnostic test tell you?

A full car diagnostic test can tell you whether any parts or components within your engine are faulty, along with other issues that might be affecting its performance. It can also provide an indication as to why your dashboard lights may be activating.

What happens after the diagnostics test?

Once the full car diagnostic test is completed, our technicians will review their findings with you and let you know if there are any repairs that need to be carried out. If the diagnostics test finds no issues, then we will provide a full report of our findings and advise you on how to keep your car running at its best.

How often do electric cars need servicing?

Electric vehicles typically require less frequent servicing compared to their petrol or diesel counterparts. The Renault Zoe, for instance, has a suggested service interval of 18,000 miles, doubling the 9,000-mile recommendation for its petrol vehicles.

At the same time, Hyundai outlines a similar plan for its electric vehicles, mirroring its petrol and hybrid cars’ service intervals. These intervals are set at 10,000 miles in the first year, extending to 20,000 miles in the second year, and so on, adhering to the “whichever comes first” principle. Similarly, the BMW i3’s service intervals are set for every two years or 18,000 miles, much like the Renault Zoe.

How long does a car service take?

The duration of a car service can vary based on a few factors such as the type of service, the make and model of the vehicle, and the condition of the car. As a general guide, an interim service might take around 1.5 hours, a full service could take about 3 hours, and a major service could extend beyond 4 hours. It’s always best to confirm with service centre, as some cars may require more time, especially if additional issues are found during the service.

What does a full car service include?

A full vehicle service generally includes an oil and filter change, a comprehensive inspection of fluid levels and components, a check for wheel alignment, a thorough brake inspection, and an assessment of the air filter and other filters. This ensures optimal word choice, structure, readability, and eloquence while preserving the original meaning.

How can I tell if my car battery is dying?

Here are common signs to look out for when diagnosing a potentially failing car battery:

  1. Slow engine crank during start-up.
  2. Dim headlights and electrical issues.
  3. Needing frequent jump-starts.
  4. Battery warning light illuminated on the dashboard.
  5. Swollen or bloated battery case.
  6. Age of the battery (3 to 5 years).

If you experience any of these indicators, it’s advisable to have your battery tested by a professional to determine if a replacement is needed.

Can I drive with a broken exhaust?

No, driving with a broken exhaust is not recommended. A broken exhaust can lead to dangerous leaks of hazardous gases such as carbon monoxide, which can be fatal if inhaled in large amounts. Additionally, a defective exhaust system may also cause excessive noise pollution or even damage your car’s engine.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

This place is great! My experience was nothing but pleasant. They not just did the typical "telling you" what needs repairs, but took me out to the garage and actually showed me the issue with my car. Then found an alternative repair to fix the issue that was more affordable and in my budget. The mechanic was knowledgeable and fixed up my car and the problem was completely gone! They even dropped me off at work while my car was being repaired so I didn't have to walk. I HIGHLY recommend this place!

KILE H.

I have had work done on my car here several times. The staff has always been friendly, they have given me good options, and the price is reasonable. I would recommend them.

MIKE M.

I have taken my car into these guys multiple times for various reasons. They always run the diagnostic and tell me whats wrong, I have never felt like they are trying to sell me something my car doesn't need.

CHRISTINA W.

Amazing customer service, quick response time, charged significantly less than what other companies estimated, and best of all I didn’t have to leave work early! Will never use any other company! They were awesome.
